Most liberal U.S. states rank lowest when it comes to personal freedom

According to a new study released by the Mercatus Center of George Mason University, some of the most liberal U.S. states rank lowest when it comes to personal freedom.
The study, which calls itself the “first-ever comprehensive ranking of the American states on their public policies affecting individual freedoms in the economic, social, and personal spheres,” made a host of findings:
Military veterans are…threats?

WASHINGTON – A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed “right-wing extremists” concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats.
The report, titled “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment,” dated April 7, states that “threats from white supremacist and violent anti-government groups during 2009 have been largely rhetorical and have not indicated plans to carry out violent acts.”

Am I a US military veteran? Check
Am I concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty ? Check, check, check, check, and check
Hmmmm…apparently I fit every single criteria to be considered either A. A domestic terrorist, B. A militia member, C. A threat to America. Oh and I run a website that calls for an ideological Second American Revolution. I’m surprised they haven’t whisked me away in the middle of the night. Surely, I am in for it now.
No! I am neither a terrorist, nor a militia member, nor a threat to America. I am a patriot who has faithfully served my country. I believe in the rich history of this country. I believe in the words of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Andrew Jackson, Thomas Paine, and the rest of the Founding Fathers and great American heroes who have blessed this great nation.
I believe in democracy, freedom, life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I do not believe in tyranny. I do not believe in the theft from one man’s pockets to give to another. You may call me uncompassionate, but I say YOU Mr. Obama, are the uncompassionate one. This is America, each person has the opportunity to rise far beyond the social class he or she was born into. Mr. Obama, you of all people should realize this, being the first American president, of a race who was forced to drink from separate drinking fountains less than 50 years ago. The wealthy and successful in this country are more often than not, people who labored to get to where they are. They put in the years to get higher education, they worked multiple jobs, they worked overtime, they poured out blood, sweat, and tears, and sacrificed. Yet, you still want to steal from them and say its for the betterment of this country.
Peace, love, and charity are the messages we should be telling people instead. I believe each individual should be moral, ethical, and value driven. The government should not force anyone to be charitable. It should already be apart of who we are as Americans. What ever happened to the concept of hard work? This country was not built by the government or a poltician. It was built by the hands and on the backs of everyday, common people. That is what makes us, the greatest country and greatest people on the face of this planet we call Earth.
I am not alone in this ideology. Millions of Americans also believe this too. Trust me, none of us are threats to this country. We love this country because it stands for certains things. Who are the real threats to this country? It sure as hell is not the millions of brave Americans who go overseas and have bullets and bombs reigning down on them every single day, to protect a document that many of our political tyrants have never read, much less understood.
This is getting out of control and the rattle snake of 1776 is shaking it’s tail again. It does not attack without being provoked and once attacked, it never backs down. We the people will never back down from tyranny. Freedom will prevail. If the Department of Homeland Security wants to find the real threats to America, they should first start, by looking in the mirror.
Taking away your right to choose health care
Posted by David Hazi in General on April 6th, 2009
Increasingly, the new administration is taking away the rights of the individual and giving them to the folks in Washington. Obama promised a change from the same old Washington politics, but instead he is creating a polarized society. I believe the American people are smart enough to choose for themselves, not have a nanny state making all the choices for them. Everyone realizes that the health care industry is broken. Insurance costs too much and so does medicines. Nobody seriously wants people to go without health care, the battle is between how and who you get it from.
So what solutions do politicians like Barack Obama, Senator Max Baucus, Tom Daschle, and groups like the AARP, Families USA, big insurance and big business propose? They want to mandate that everyone buy the same expensive insurance that many can’t afford (with a tax if you don’t buy) – a plan that is failing in Massachusetts. They would create a “Health Care Fed” that would create cookbook medicine and rationing protocols and force your doctor to follow them under the threat of lower pay or a phony report card score that has nothing to do with quality and has everything to do with how much third-party money was being “wasted” on actual patient care. This would be enforced through a mandate to enter your health data into a computer that would be forward to the government where it would be subject to loss or accidental exposure of private health information. They would expand the Medicare program, which is scheduled to bankrupt its own trust fund next decade, to people who are 55 years old. They would put more children in government health programs even though such a plan failed in Hawaii after only 7 months — leaving many children previously insured privately without coverage!
Why are we debating over a system that has proven not to work? Would you buy a microwave oven that has been proven to blow up in your face only after a few months? Better yet, would you spend $10,000 a year for that defective microwave? Of course not. Why then, aren’t we encouraging competition in the private sector of health care? Doctors and clinics should be competing for your services as a patient. The health care plan should be what is right for you and your family. Some families are extremely healthy and rarely have to see a doctor, why should they be forced to pay for services they do not need? Other families have histories of health problems and need more extensive coverage, why aren’t we creating a free market so these people can buy cheaper coverage?
You are not stupid America. This country was built by the hands and minds of you and your ancestors. You know the best what it is that you need. Not the government and not Obama.
